Our church recently got approved for Google for Nonprofits, but when I try to register our domain for Google Workspace, it says:
“This domain name is already in use. If you own this domain and would like to use Google Workspace, please follow the steps here.”
I already:
Unpublished and deleted our old Google Sites
Removed all DNS records that point to Google (CNAMEs and TXT for verification)
Confirmed that we own the domain (it’s managed under our Cloudflare account)
It seems like someone from our group may have created a Workspace account before, but we don’t know which admin email was used.
Is there any way to find out which Google Workspace account currently has this domain, or how to request a release so we can use it under our new Nonprofit Workspace?
Any advice or next steps would be a huge help. Thanks in advance!
Thank you for your post! I also wanted to share the link for the Google Nonprofits Community in the event you would like to check with that team as well: Google for Nonprofits Community
Personally, I think this is one of the worst things about Google is having worked in education for years and developing syllabi and curriculum and all this kind of stuff. The pathways for these things had to be absolutely clear for students and stuff but when you come to Google there ain’t nothing clear. It’s really not and so it seems like multiple things are called the same thing and I don’t know it’s just it’s absolutely chaos under the hood when you start looking at it
