Having trouble with a VM losing network connection

I have an Ubuntu instance running on an n1-standard-2 (2 VCPU, 7.5 GB memory) machine, running Apache and Wordpress. It has started running for about an hour, then losing network connectivity - no http, no ssh, no way to get to the machine. The only thing I can do when it dies is stop and start (or reset) the machine. Doing that every hour is not a good uptime experience.

I have tried staying logged into the machine via ssh until it departs; everything looks normal - it’s only using about 1.5 GB of memory and a fraction of the CPU - and then it just disappears.

I would open a case with Google, and even bought a support subscription today, but it will not allow me to open a case. Which is also distressing.

Any help with either figuring out what’s wrong with this VM or in getting Google to help will be appreciated.

In case anyone’s interested, I could not figure out what was going on; I ended up provisioning another server and moving it to that server. Whether the problem was a software problem in my Ubuntu instance or a problem with Google’s infrastructure I may never know. But I can cancel that support subscription, because I was not able to get any help there.
