I am new to Looker studio, making a bar chart with impressiosn across 2 years. How do I get the data to show two columns per month, one from each year? Like, I want January to have one column for 2023 and right next to it the value for 2024
Hey albenavides,
In order to create two bars per 1 bar, you need to add a breakdown dimension.
To solve your specific question, you would most likely add your date range to the Date Range Dimension as the default, then go and set the dimension to the same date range to only include Month, and the breakdown dimension to the same date range to only include Year. Then you would filter the chart to only include the last two years.
Visually:
- This is how it should look by the end.
- You can change the date type by clicking the little calendar next to the dimension.
I hope this helps,
Dylan
PS. Make sure you have at least 12 bars showing since there are 12 months in a year. You can change this setting under STYLE → Bars
THANK YOU!!! This was tremendously helpful
