Hi all, Newbie from Cuba here. From Cuba we have to use VPN based on servers abroad and they all work great from different cloud providers like AWS, Azure, ORACLE, Linode, OVH, IBM and such, except all servers and services based in Google Cloud they don’t work from Cuba. Heck, not even the website cloud.google.com works from Cuba and even people like me who use iPhone we also need a foreign VPN to do simple tasks like accessing the App Store.
A few weeks ago, the US Government apparently eased the US Embargo on Cuba at least when it comes to Cloud Services, Software Exports and some IT Technologies apparently, and I reiterate apparently, because in reality at least for us regular Cubans inside Cuba aka the people it all seems business as usual with all sorts of restrictions and geo-blockades still in place and still unable to simply use services based on GCP or even open de Google Cloud website for instance.
Can anyone from the Google Cloud Staff comment on this and give us regular Cubans an idea if under the new US law, we, the regular Cubans, will be able in the future to finally access services or Apps based on Google Cloud?
I saw another thread on this same Google Cloud Community, 6 months long already with over 800 views but with only 12 replies of which all of them are from only the same 3 Google cloud users but none are answers or replies from Google Staff per se.
Therefore still with no answers and as such the reason to once again ask the same unanswered question. Hopefully this time around someone from Google Cloud will have the decency to comment and present their facts or reasoning as to why still Google Cloud does not work at all from Cuba or if there is a timeframe or process to allow it somehow in the future as per or in compliance with the current US Laws and Regulations.
