Yes, there are a few ways to get your GCP Cloud Shell back to work if it has been disabled.
1. Check your Cloud Shell settings
The first thing you should do is check your Cloud Shell settings to make sure that it is enabled. To do this:
- Go to the Google Cloud Console: https://console.cloud.google.com/.
- Click the hamburger menu (three horizontal lines) in the top left corner of the page.
- Select Cloud Shell.
- Under Settings, make sure that the Enable Cloud Shell checkbox is selected.
2. Clear your browser cache and cookies
Sometimes, a disabled Cloud Shell can be fixed by clearing your browser cache and cookies. To do this:
- Open your browser settings.
- Find the Privacy and security section.
- Click Clear browsing data.
- Select Cached images and files and Cookies and other site data.
- Click Clear data.
3. Restart your computer
If clearing your browser cache and cookies doesn’t work, try restarting your computer. Sometimes, a simple restart can fix a variety of problems.
4. Contact Google Cloud support
If you have tried all of the above and your Cloud Shell is still disabled, you can contact Google Cloud support for assistance.

- Make sure that you are logged into the correct Google account.
- Try opening Cloud Shell from a different browser or device.
- Try opening Cloud Shell in incognito mode.
