Hi there,

I’m a dev at an educational non-profit called the Concord Consortium, and we’re currently hoping to integrate our educational activities with Google Classroom by developing an add-on. I’ve been following the steps outlined here to get a developer domain going, and am running into a couple issues.

I went through steps 1-3 no problem – I created a new demo domain (distinct from our primary domain, since we already use that with a Google Workspace for Business account), verified the domain, and have signed up for the Google Workspace for Education free trial with that domain.

Step 4 was a little odd – I submitted the form to notify Google of the domain registration, although it seemed like a number of the questions weren’t relevant to my situation. For example, I don’t have a “Google for Education Partner Name”, or a “Google for Education Partner Manager”. I did add some details about my reasons for submitting the form in the “How do you plan to use the demo toolkit”? answer section.

Steps 5 and 6 went fine – I filled out the form in Step 5 to request a demo domain upgrade, and was able to created new teacher and student users.

Step 7 I ran into an issue – I tried to sign in as one of the teachers, and Google prompted me to enter a phone number for text message verification, so I put in my cell number. But when I entered the code I received via text from Google, I got the error “It looks like someone else might be trying to access your Google Account. For your protection, you can’t sign in right now. Try again later or sign in from a different device.”

In the meantime, I went back to the onboarding steps and tried to create a Google Cloud project for the add-on, but it seems like I can’t create a Google Cloud project. Is that because my account hasn’t been upgraded to the Education plus subscription yet?

I guess my main questions are –

  1. When can I expect our Education plus subscription to be instated, so we can proceed with the add-on development?
  2. Will the Education plus subscription enable us to create a Google Cloud project as an admin of our demo domain?
  3. Why am I getting this error about signing is as other users in my Workspace, and how can I get around this? I will need to sign in as other users throughout the development process.

Looking forward to getting some help. We’re really looking forward to integrating our resources with Google Classroom.
