I’m looking for a way to implement some prompting guardrails for Gemini, but it does not look like there is a way to easily inject a prompt template that would be leveraged by Gemini (in the background) each time an employee initiates a chat session with it. Since this is currently not possible from the Admin portal, I’d like to at least understand when Google is planning that functionality for Workspace customers given that the existing available controls are too basic.
Check out Gemini Enterprise.
Hey,
Hope you’re keeping well.
Gemini for Workspace doesn’t currently support custom, persistent prompt templates or guardrails that auto‑inject into each user session. At present, the available admin controls are limited to data access, content moderation, and usage policies via the Admin console > Security > AI and data controls section. For more advanced guardrails, you’d need to implement them externally, for example, by routing interactions through an internal app or API that applies your templates before calling Gemini APIs. Google hasn’t announced timelines for native Workspace‑level prompt injection features, so the best way to track this is via the Google Workspace Updates blog and the public roadmap.
Thanks and regards,
Taz
