GA4 Individual page not connecting to GDS anymore.

I have Google Data Studio/Looker Studio issue and need help with diagnosis and fixing it if needed.

I have GA4 connected to GDS. All numbers in GA4 show correctly. For a year they pulled fine to GDS but now it is messed up and we didn’t make any changes. All of the general website numbers work fine but individual charts with individual urls don’t work anymore. We are trying to track an individual page view in 1 chart (several charts).

Here is what I’ve tried first.

  1. Checked connection status (connected)
  2. Refreshed data and cleared cache
  3. Date and range filters are checked
  4. Created a brand new Looker Studio to connected it and it’s the same issue.
  5. Checked Google Tag Manager and don’t see anything there.
  6. GA4 seems to be working fine.
  7. Google Cloud doesn’t show errors but I’m not sure what I’d be looking for. Am not well versed in it.

Hi there,

Here are some considerations that might help diagnose and fix the problem:

  • Double-check the configuration of your GA4 data source in Looker Studio. Ensure that all necessary permissions are in place and that the data source settings haven’t changed.
  • Review any filters and segments applied to your charts. Ensure that they are correctly configured to track the specific URLs you are interested in (Sometimes, filters can inadvertently exclude data if not set up correctly).
  • As a troubleshooting step, try recreating one of the problematic charts from scratch. This can help determine if there is an issue with the existing chart configuration.
  • Ensure that the URLs you are tracking haven’t changed. Even slight changes in URL structure (e.g., adding or removing query parameters) can affect tracking.
  • Utilize the GA4 DebugView in the Google Analytics interface to see if the events and page views are being tracked as expected. This can help confirm if the data is being collected correctly before it reaches Looker Studio
  • While you’ve checked Google Tag Manager, it’s worth double-checking that the tags, triggers, and variables related to page views are firing correctly and that no recent changes have affected them.
  • If the problem persists, consider using an external connector like windsor.ai. This can help manage multiple data sources and might offer additional flexibility and reliability in pulling data into Looker Studio.
  1. permissions are good and havent changed

  2. filters are not excluding anything and are set up correctly.

  3. Creating it from scratch results in the same thing.

  4. URLs haven’t changed.

  5. GA4 data shows up perfectly fine. Doesn’t show any issues.

  6. GTM shows everything firing correctly.

  7. Windsor AI also doesn’t work.
