TLDR
We are happy to announce a GA launch of Connected Sheets for Looker Core instances using Private IP addresses.
The Connected Sheets for Looker feature, launched in March 2024, allowed Google Sheets users to analyze Looker modeled data directly within the familiar Sheets interface. The initial version enabled users to access and analyze data from Explores and Looks on their Looker hosted and Looker Core instances, relying on public IP addresses for connectivity. This new enhancement allows Sheets users to view data from Looker Core instances with Private IP PSA and Private IP PSC configurations.
Google Sheets connector, like all other BI Connectors, is enabled by default. Looker Admins can manage the connectors by navigating to the Admin → BI Connector page.
In order to connect to Looker instances configured with Private IP, Sheets users will need a Looker Instance ID which can be found in Looker under Help → Looker Instance ID.
Once the Looker Instance ID is known, users can navigate to Sheets and connect to Looker using Data → Data Connectors → Connect to Looker, and enter the Looker Instance ID as shown below.
You can learn more about the overall Connected Sheets for Looker feature from the release blog, and the benefits of Connected Sheets for Looker in this community post.
