Hi,
I’d like to know if there is an estimated release date for the column-level lineage feature in Dataplex.
As of this response in August 2023, it was still in its early stages of development.
My team would like to know if there is a near release or preview for this feature, in order to wait or go with a different approach to implement column-level lineage.
Thanks in advance
It looks like its in preview stage at the moment according to release notes it was in preview stage since March 11:
https://cloud.google.com/dataplex/docs/release-notes#March_11_2024
You can try accessing the feature by going LINEAGE tab, go to list then navigate through Lineage explorer. Also be reminded that you have to activate these API to access this feature:
"Lineage requires both Data Lineage API and Data Catalog API to be enabled in project… "
Hi nceniza,
I recently revisited the release notes and couldn’t find any mention of the column-level lineage update scheduled for March 11. I recall seeing it listed there last week.
Could you please confirm if there has been a rollback of this feature during the preview stage?
Hi @nceniza ,
My team is currently implementing data lineage using Dataplex, and we’re curious about the status of the column-level feature.
At the moment, we only see table-level lineage available, and we’re eager to know if there’s an estimated release date for this feature.
Thank you in advance.
Column-level data lineage for BigQuery is available in Preview for allowlisted users. The existing data lineage feature tracks how BigQuery data moves through your systems at the table level. Column-level lineage extends this feature to let you track BigQuery data movement at the column level.
