Data type : Ref or Enum-ref is better for sync time ?

Hi everyone,

Notice Ref creates virtual colunmn automatically, so if I choose Enum-ref it is better for sync time ? (down side is that I then can’t click to the [ref-id] column to link to the row).

Thank you.

There is no practical difference except possibly with huge datasets.

Hi Steve,

Could you advise how huge of the datasets that it will impact the sync time ? like how many rows…

Thanks for the answer.

Enun - ref would give the better performance rather than normal ref for sure as enim ref will not generate reverse ref VC

It’s not possible to answer that question.

Hi Koichi, could you advise me what if I use Ref but not show/hide the VC columns ? Does hiding the VC columns improve the sync time ?

It is impossible. Once you set the column type as REF, then reverse REF VC is always showing up. Even after you delete and save, then I comes up again. This is how REF column works.

Hi Koichi,

But I still can hide it :

Hiding has no effect on sync time. The column value will still be computed, it just won’t be visible to the user.
