In the coming week, Looker Studio will be called Data Studio.
You may remember this product was previously called Data Studio, and we’re going back to the old name — but with a new, expanded mission. Data Studio is still the place to create and share reports and visualizations. But now, in the AI era, it is expanding to be a place to browse and interact with many different Google data sources and assets, including BigQuery conversational agents and data apps built in Colab.
Looker is Google’s enterprise business intelligence platform and Data Studio is evolving to complement Looker, independently. You can learn more about this update from our blog post.
As we make this update, we are also renaming Looker Studio Pro, the paid edition, as Data Studio Pro.
Updating from Looker Studio to the new Data Studio should be largely transparent for you. All existing reports, data sources, assets and users will be transitioned to the new experience with no action on your part.
Stay connected for more updates and tune in to Google Cloud Next ‘26 later this month for more.
As we roll out these changes, you may run into some lingering references to Looker Studio. We’re on it!
