I am using Looker Studio to report ad performance to clients. Been using it for Meta ads, using a third-party integration (funnel.io) as the Data Source. With that integration, I am able to use a Filter for Data Source Name, allowing me to have separate reports for different clients.
When I use the Google Ads direct integration however, I haven’t been able to find a way to apply a Data Source filter. This means that if I was to share the report with a client, they would also be able to see all my other clients’ data.
Is there a way to implement a filter like that? Using a Campaign Name filter does not work either, since the Data Source defaults to one specific account. Would I need to use a third-party integration for Google Ads to be able to use a filter like this?
Hi Einar,
The “Account name / description” field should allow you to filter by Account:
Does this work for you?
The Power My Analytics support team.
It does not work unfortunately, it only shows one account (the same account that it defaults to every time I open the report). Have I set up the Data Source incorrectly?
My main issue seems to come from the setup of the Google Ads Data control. In my setup with the Funnel connection, I have the option for the below chart types. This allows me to add a filter for a Data Source name.
But for the Google Ads connector, I have the below options.
When I then try to add a separate filter, it shows up blank. It only works for the Source Name that is set to “Default”.
The Data Connection is the Native direct integration with Google Ads.
