it was working fine on July 27, 2025, and stopped today (July 28, 2025).

it started working with gemini-1.5-flash-002 in asia-south1

You encountered this error because gemini-1.0-pro-001 model was officially retired in April 2025. While gemini-1.5-flash and gemini-1.5-flash-002 are still supported as a legacy model, it’s still recommended to switch to the latest version to access new features and improvements.
Refer to the Model version and lifecycles to identify stable and actively supported models. Ensure that the Gemini models you’re considering are available in your region. You may also want to check your organization’s policies, as they might restrict access to certain Vertex AI models within your project.
