But it would be really cool if you guys could change the GCP pricing calculator: https://cloud.google.com/products/calculator?hl=en , when working out CloudSQL pricing to be able to select the DB engine version for example Cloud SQL MySQL 5.7 and then have a switch that you can flip to calculate the pricing with “Cloud SQL Extended Support”.
Thanks for the suggestion! I’m glad you enjoy using Google Cloud Platform
Having the option to select which MySQL database version you’d like to use with the pricing calculator could be a useful feature to have, similar to the options available when you create an instance. However, since we generally don’t recommend using end-of-life (EOL) database versions with deprecation dates already planned, it would probably just show the latest version of MySQL as the only option, along with its minor versions available.
If you like, you can submit a Feature Request ticket on our issue tracker with the details of the possible use cases of this feature with the pricing calculator. Do note that there isn’t a specific time frame for issue resolution. Instead, we wait for a feature to have a handful of stars and, hopefully, comments from several users about how the feature would be useful.
