Conversational analytics / gemini token usage data

Hi,

I’m using looker (original) version 26.12.7 and can see from the release notes that a preview feature toggle for "Conversational Analytics Observability" should be available to switch on and show the input and output token usage in the system dashboards for CA agents. But there is no toggle on my version of looker. It would be really helpful to estimate the potential future bill once tokens are no longer unlimited in a month’s time.

Please can you advise if I’m missing something, or if not when it will be released please?

Thanks,
Tom Canter

They’ve since added the following note to the release notes:

Note: The Conversational Analytics Observability preview feature is temporarily unavailable. You can still monitor Conversational Analytics engagement on the Conversational Analytics System Activity dashboard, but metrics on token usage are not available. This item was updated on June 29, 2026.

This seems to happen quite often now - they row back a feature from a release (same thing happened with dashboard agents).

Update: this now seems to have been launched - there are 2 preview features that I can enable in the Admin console, which results in new tiles being added to the ‘Conversational Analytics’ dashboard that measure token consumption and responses.

However, none of the new tiles return any results (all zeros and nulls). If I choose ‘Explore from here’ and run a query in the source System Activity Explores, they don’t contain any data. Since this is a preview feature, no support is available other than emailing conversational-analytics-feedback@google.com.

I turned this setting on on friday, and I saw the same thing as you, no numbers. Today the token usage stats are there, but only up to friday. So try checking again tomorrow morning @ruthc

Ah, maybe it only tracks from the point at which it’s enabled :woman_shrugging:
