Hello there,
There is a very annoying bug : it’s not possible to use the “compare with previous year” feature in a table. It displays an empty value.
It seems like it’s a known bug for a long time. Could you please fix it
In attachment (below), you can see a table with :
- A value displayed for January 2025
- A value displayed for January 2026
But there is nothing displayed in the “comparison” column to compare January 2026 with 2025 (though it has all it needs to calculate it)
Here is the setup of this table :
Can an admin report the bug to make sure it will be fixed soon
Thanks in advance

Hi @FlorentCheef This is a known limitation in Looker Studio and not an issue with your configuration. The compare with previous year option does not work correctly in tables when the date dimension is grouped by Year Month, so the comparison column can appear empty even when both January 2025 and January 2026 values exist. The calculation is not performed at the row level in this setup. As a workaround, you can create a blended data source and join the table with itself shifted by one year to calculate year over year manually, or use a time series chart where the comparison feature works correctly. To request a fix, the issue must be reported in the official Looker Studio Issue Tracker, since community admins cannot escalate product bugs directly.
