Can appsheet create icons like Icon Composer?

Hi everyone! As usual, I’d like to share some SVG code I generated with Gemini AI. Inspired by ICON COMPOSER , I’ve created an Icon Editor app for AppSheet.

Here is how it works:

  1. Paste the Icon code you want to edit (note: use single double quotes ", not double double quotes “”). Example <path d="M23.55 15.25c0.84,-2.14 2.99,-5.36 4.2,-7.49 1.37,-2.41 3.01,-5.5 4.47,-7.76l-28.95……/>

  2. Adjust the position and size as needed.

  3. Add text if desired; otherwise, leave the field blank.

  4. Customize the colors to your preference.

  5. Choose designs: Select “Flat Design” for a clean look, or “Non-Flat Design” for gradients, shadows, and glow effects.

  6. Premium Templates: There are 15 high-quality animation templates available.

  7. Icon Animations: You can select specific entrance animations for the icon, such as “from bottom,” “from top,” and more.

  8. Don’t forget to copy the SVG code after you design it, select the Code for Appsheet….(blue action) to your virtual colum ( as image) icon.

Link mobile app : Icon editor for Appsheet

You can choose a flat design or a non-flat design.

Set the position ( “"x” and “y” axis) and size (scale) of your icon according to your wishes

15 premium animated templates available for your icon

Select the animation template you want

You can choose the type of icon animation you want.

If you want the frame to be a circle, set the size RX = 300

Once you’ve finished designing and chosen a suitable template, don’t forget to copy the SVG Code for appsheet….”

Hopefully this application is useful for you.

"I would love to hear your feedback, suggestions, or critiques. Should I keep posting these, or is it time to stop? I ask only because I’m afraid you’ll fall more in love with AppSheet & Gemini AI."

Thank you!

Hi @Syamsudin ,

If I may add based on your request, this is a suggestion part. :slightly_smiling_face: You have been sharing some excellent SVG implementations. If you add some practical use case(s) to your tips as relevant to those creations, I believe your tips will have a much broader appreciation and usefulness factor. If you see the existing tips, those with practical uses cases gain more traction. A very recent example below:

For example, where and which functionality ( say an inventory app to show summary inventory) in an AppSheet app these SVGs can be used.

I recollect that some time ago @WillowMobileSys had mentioned that AppSheet app users are mainly business app users, so rather than pure visually appealing UI , they would rather prefer a robust functionality.

I agree with this viewpoint by @WillowMobileSys in large part (75 % weightage) even though personally I also like a visually appealing UI (25% weightage). :slightly_smiling_face: A business app, unlike a consumer app has to function to meet a user’s business needs as the first requirement. A visually appealing UI is also an added bonus.

I am sure, other community members too will have their own valuable insights.

Hello! @Suvrutt_Gurjar

Thank you so much for your suggestions and input. You have been my biggest supporter throughout this journey.

Regarding the SVG code, I haven’t fully implemented it in my apps yet; it’s currently just for testing, such as in my personal stock screener app.

The reason I haven’t switched is that I still prefer the default Deck View. In Deck View, I can easily place multiple Actions and apply Format Rules—features that aren’t available when using SVG.

Format Rules are one of my favorite features because they serve as essential indicators. They allow me to visualize whether prices or volumes are trending up or down. Additionally, the Actions can be linked directly to external sites like TradingView or Google Finance, which helps bridge the gap when I have limited data.

I totally agree with you that functionality is the top priority. However, we also need to challenge the negative sentiment that AppSheet lacks customization. For icons (menu), I personally prefer using PNG or JPG images instead of SVG because they look more futuristic.

Thank you @Syamsudin for sharing some wonderful SVG implementations in the latest post as well. You really have an eye for a great UI.

Regarding the address column, I will go through and revert with my findings. Community members have already commented on that tip. My point was just sharing a tip example ( rather than correctness of its contents) that can invoke more response because it involved a major pain point of sync time in AppSheet.

My request will be you please delete the Address related comment from this post and please post in that related tip because there it is most appropriate. Your insights on the address type column will be very useful there.

Yes, this was made from the AppSheet point of view and an understanding of it’s customer base. Since then, Google has moved toward Workspace accounts strengthening that viewpoint even more.

I would love more visually appealing UI components and formatting available and would take full advantage of it if it was included. It does require a whole other layer of complexity within the platform. Hopefully, that is something they seek to include in the future.

In the meantime, we have SVG’s and AI photo generations. @Syamsudin has shown some awesome creativity in utilizing these in example apps. Keep up the good work!!
