Bulk action not showing up?

I have a couple of “Data: Set the values of some columns in this row” type of actions that universally apply to any row in the data set, so the conditions are set to “True”. Hide menu is not on. I cannot get them to show up during multi-select, regardless of which “position” I choose for them. What am I missing?

Can you show us your problem view?

Are attempting this in a single Table view or as a panel in a Dashboard view?

It has been recently discovered that with “New Mobile Framework”, A table View in a Dashboard will allow the multi-row selection through a Long Press but no bulk actions are displayed. It is a bug. Bulk actions are not supported in a Dashboard view.

No, it’s not a dashboard.

When you say show you the view, do you mean a screenshot of the app itself, or the view setup in the app editor? I cannot show the view because it contains protected company information in the form of images. Redacting them will basically render the entire view moot, becaue it’s just tiles of the images, which you can multi-select.

Understood. Not a Dashboard but its a Gallery View? My understanding is that Gallery Views DO indeed support the bulk action feature.

Make sure the columns you want to update are part of the datasource (especially if using a Slice) and are Editable. Oh, and if it’s a Slice for which you have selectively added actions, you must add your update action(s) for bulk selection to the Slice as well.

I have created a test Gallery vie and tested in both Legacy Framework and the New Mobile Framework. It seems to be working for me. See image below.

Let me know if you see anything different from your experience

Mine looks most like the top one. The only issue is, when I click the checkbox icon in the upper right (alongside the resync button and the search button), it goes blank. I can select the image tiles, but no actions whatsoever are offered. The columns in question are editable. That said, only updates are permitted on the table, not deletes or new adds. I have the actions set as “prominent” position, but changing them to primary makes no difference. I can manually edit each column the action would ostensibly do automatically.

Does it happen to make a difference that the view is of a slice that, once the action is taken, will eliminate it from the current slice and move it to a different one? Seems like that shouldn’t matter, but thought I’d mention it.

By the way, exactly what does this mean? I cannot add actions to a specific slice. It only offers me the “main” tables. I am working with slices.

Hello @Patrick_Paul ,

The advice by @WillowMobileSys on checking if the action has been anabled for slices is valuable and please verify that.

Additionally, please evaluate if the following helps and your situation does not fall into the scenario described below.

Could you update if the column(s) that you are trying to set through the action “Data: set values of some columns in this row” have values in the slice records that are not already having the value that you are trying to set through the action.

For example , if it is an [Order Status] column and the action is trying to set it to “Complete” status, the bulk action will show in summary view for only records with [Order Status]<>“Complete”

As you can see in the example below, the order status complete action icon is that of a truck. This action basically sets the value of [Order Status] column to “Complete”

Order Set to Complete

Now as the GIF below shows, the same action shows in the summary view as a bulk action only for the orders with open status. Please note till the time records with “Complete” status are selected, the action icon truck does NOT show up in bulk actions.

Please see the GIF below. The action to set the Order status is not showing for records with [Order Status]=“Complete” but it starts showing for records with order status as “Open”. One needs to select only the records with 'Open" status for the truck action icon to show.

Bulk action

So you may want to ensure the records in the slice where you are trying to set the value through action do not already have that value in some records. Till those records are selected in the bulk action , the action will not show.

Finally, also please note, as the following GIF shows that the bulk action simply does not show up by default even if none of the records are selected, if the view has mixed set of order status records (( open and complete.) . The bulk action icon starts showing up only when a record with [Order Status] = “Open” is selected.

Slices have a section to allow control over which actions are available to them. If you are not aware of this then it is likely your Slice has the default which means it should see All actions. See image below.

Also, as I mentioned in the previous post…

”Make sure the columns you want to update are part of the datasource (especially if using a Slice) and are Editable.”

I.e. make sure they are listed in the Slice columns list.

AND…as @Suvrutt_Gurjar points out, make sure that all the rows you are selecting meet the criteria of the action. If even a single one DOES NOT fit the criteria, the action will not be displayed.

Here is what I’ve discovered (sorry it’s been awhile, had to work on other projects…)

If I create a separate stand-alone gallery view, everything works as expected. But it will not work in the view where I want it to. The view where I want it to is the “ref rows” view for the slice that you can click through from a related record.

Dzień dobry, z tego co czytam w pierwszym poscie, od razu nasuwa się myśl o “superpozycji” . I wtedy ma to sens, że nie możesz prawidłowo zmierzyć pozycji w czasie w sposów ciągły.
