I’m trying to connect OpenMetadata to a BigQuery database, but I keep receiving a 403 error: “Your client does not have permission to get URL …”
The connection was working fine before we upgraded to a newer version of OpenMetadata. After the upgrade, we received this 403 error for the first time. A couple of days later, it started working again on its own. However, after we connected Power BI dashboards and added PBIT files stored in a cloud storage bucket (we had to store credentials to container), the connection stopped working again. It briefly worked again for a short time on Monday, then failed once more and hasn’t recovered since.
We have tried the following troubleshooting steps, without success:
- Created a new service account
- Rotated the IP address
- Removed the PBIT file connection/bucket integration
- Rotated the service account key
- Verified IAM permissions and checked for VPC Service Controls restrictions
Interestingly, BigQuery itself works fine when queried through other means (e.g., our Power BI dashboards connect and query successfully), but requests from our hosted server’s specific IP consistently return this 403 error.
Has anyone encountered a similar issue, or does anyone know what might be causing this?
