Basic Last Month vs This Month Marketing Scorecards

I need some help in setting up a really basic dashboard in Looker from Sheets and I’m struggling with the Sheet setup.

Context-

I’m in marketing and I want to present a nice dashboard to my clients monthly. I like getting into the backend of each platform and working through the stats. I may not report on all of them, but I value monitoring it all, so I want this to be manual rather than auto-connections. I just want scorecards, simple is best.

What I would like to do-

Have a Google sheet where I have my last month vs this month stats that I have updated manually each month. This data is then reflected in scorecards on a Looker dashboard.

For the life of me, I can’t get the data to display correctly in Looker in a demo. Below is an example of my goal in a demo sheet and what I want the scorecard to have on it.

In Looker this is as far as I can get

please help!

You can’t automatically update the scorecard this way, especially not with this data structure. Here’s what you need to do instead

Format the data this way-
Columns in Google Sheets

Date | FB Reach | FB Views

Date Column must contain the month’s date (Any date will do, but I would suggest the first or last day of the month)

Connect the sheets with Looker Studio

Plot the Scorecard
Choose FB reach as metrics in the primary field
Date range dimension: Date column
Default date range filter > Custom > This month to date
Enable ‘Comparison date range’ with ‘Previous Period’

There are multiple other ways to do it. But this is the easiest.

Thank you that worked! If I was to add in another level to it, I have a client with 3 brands.

Would I add a brand column next to date and filter the scorecard on brand as well?

Sorry for the late reply.

Yes, you can add the Brand column with brand names as items, and then add a filter dropdown to filter by brand names.
