As a Workspace Business Std user I can cancel my Appsheet subscription?

I got an email from Google in July 2023 which I overlooked actioning on. It seems that Appsheet is now included in Google Workspace Business Standard (which we use), among others.

The intructions are clear and I’ve hovered over the Cancel button but it’s still sufficiently anxiety-inducing that I thought I’d check in here. If I cancel my Appsheet subscription through the Appsheet settings, does the Workplace-included functionality continue seamlessly?

The email from Google, July 2023…

Dear Google Workspace user,

We’re writing to let you know that by the end of Q3 2023, your Google Workspace user license will include access to AppSheet Core, providing the ability to create and use AppSheet apps within your organization. Your existing AppSheet Core subscription is no longer necessary, and should be manually canceled.

What do you need to know?

With this change, users in your organization will automatically gain access to AppSheet Core if they have a user license for one of the following Google Workspace editions:

  • Google Workspace Business Standard

AppSheet Core licenses are already included with Google Workspace Enterprise Essentials Plus, Google Workspace Enterprise Plus and Google Workspace Education Plus*. There will be no impact to any existing AppSheet apps used in your organization.

*Note: Google Workspace for Education users under the age of 18 are restricted from using AppSheet with their Google Workspace for Education accounts. For more information, see Control access to Google services by age.

What do you need to do?

You are being notified because you have AppSheet Core licenses purchased on appsheet.com. These AppSheet Core licenses are no longer necessary for sharing AppSheet apps with other users inside your Google Workspace organization. To verify that your AppSheet app users are inside your Google Workspace organization and you no longer require your existing AppSheet Core licenses, visit the App Info tab in your AppSheet Account settings.

To cancel your existing AppSheet Core subscription on appsheet.com, visit your AppSheet Billing settings.

Yes that’s true. Though it doesn’t update your account right away, probably within a day.

Thank you for the reply. I just tried to cancel it but it just took me back to the Change screen (with no indication of the cancel having been processed). I tried deleting my credit card but it said that I was on a paid plan and couldn’t do that. Any ideas?

Does it accept if you change your plan to Free first?

I can be such a dumby. The Cancel button was to leave that page, not to cancel the subscription. I selected the Free plan, and it came up with a list of reasons, with mine being at the top.

Many thanks Alexsi. I’m just a but miffed (with Google) that this wasn’t done automatically, having paid unnecessarily for about a year, but in the end that’s on me.

One reason it can’t happen automatically.. the account can have licenses for users that are outside of your Workspace domain.. like external users and they are not covered with the WS licenses.
