App crashing on iPhones when taking photos

Over the last two months or so I’ve had several iPhone users complain that the apps we use (we have several Appsheet apps for field audits) crash on their devices when taking photos, losing all the information in the record they had started. I don’t have an iPhone, so I can’t test this. Is this a known issue or is there a fix? They have found as a work around that they can take a photo using the camera app, then load it by selecting it from the camera roll. Something just causes it to crash when actually taking a photo directly from the app. Thanks!

Which iPhone models and what iOS version is installed?

iPhone 13 and iOS 16.6 is my point person for this issue. I’m sure other people have other configs.

Earlier this year we ran into a similar issue. We found the “Save images to gallery” option in Appsheet and the “Save photos to camera roll” in the app settings was causing conflicts. We made sure the AppSheet setting was turned on, toggled all app camera/photo permissions off, launched the app, then toggled app permissions back on and launched the app again. Basically like a cache clearing or reset for the app. Not sure if you are experiencing the exact same issue. but might be worth a shot.

I’ll pass that along, but I’m not sure my user(s) are savvy enough to figure out how to do all that. Sounds like Appsheet has some work to do on iOS.

We had to put together a PowerPoint for our users… So I know what you mean.

If you don’t mind sharing any “job aid” you may have for this, I’d be very grateful. I don’t have an iPhone, and have never used one, so it’s not something I’m a lot of help with myself. Android or bust!
