After gcloud update putty integration is broken

Gcloud asked me to update so I updated.

Now putty integration is broken.

It seems gcloud is sending a malformed invocation of putty.exe resulting in an error dialog from putty: “option ‘-legacy-stdio-prompts’ not available in this tool”.

And that is followed by an error message in the console:

ERROR: (gcloud.compute.ssh) [C:\Users\MichaelDeisher\AppData\Local\Google\Cloud SDK\google-cloud-sdk\bin\sdk\putty.exe] exited with return code [1].

Gemini AI gets really wrapped around the axle on this one but finally agrees that there is a bug in gcloud.

Somehow I’m not allowed to create a support ticket despite being my company’s admin for gcloud.

Help!

yeah i have the same issue thought it was just one pc but all my windows pcs have the issue now

Yeah, I was also facing the same issue so raised a bug but did not try this fix as they took time to respond, mean time I downgraded to 568 which worked for me.

Workaround that was suggested : gcloud config set ssh/putty_force_connect False
