Hello Everyone,
We are working on Google Places API for a project. In our map-based work, we obtain some data from Places API. There is also various information about companies here. We will send approximately 1 million API requests to our system Sektorlideri.com
The question I am wondering is, do we have 200 USD free usage right every month in Places API? If so, why am I being billed right now? I would be glad if friends with information could answer.
Good work.

Hello @tahirdinc , Welcome on Googl****e Cloud Community.
I looked trough documentation and it looks like you have following FREE TIER options:
- Integrate the most commonly used APIs into your applications with 10K free* calls per SKU per month( Essentials level)
- Take it to the next level with advanced features to build more differentiated experiences with 5K free* calls per SKU per month. ( Pro level)
- Transform your business with maximum flexibility and control with 1K free* calls per SKU per month. ( enterprise level)
Everything above that limit will be counted for payment. More info

Also, it looks like Google changed this 200USD to free monthly usage threshold for each Core Services SKU. According to https://developers.google.com/maps/billing-and-pricing/march-2025#free-usage-caps , but to use this free tier, you have to use “NEW” version of those services.
So, first of all, ensure that you are migrated to new services and you are not using legacy onces. Then, verify your SKU quota usage as since march 2025, there is no 200$. Each service have his own free tier.
If this helped, mark it as a “Accepted Solution”!
