When we have Stabile and Latest versions available to the users, what does "Default" mean?

When we have an app that provides Stabile and Latest versions to users in the app user list, what version of the app does the “Default” option supply to that user? See image.

The documentation does not explain this. One obscure section states “the default is always the latest” but I think that just means in general when there are not these version options. If “Default” was always the “Latest” then it wouldn’t make sense to have both. Which makes me think there must be some variability when “Default” is used based on the other user settings.

What does “Default” mean? “Latest” is another option not shown.

It never occurred to me to actually test this, but I had thought of it like the following;

  • No Stable version set, Default = Latest
  • Stable version set, Default = Stable

I typically assign myself as Latest, then everyone else is Default with a Stable version assigned. This has been producing the desired result, but again not officially tested. We also have a mix of individual user assignment, and Security Group assignment via Domain Auth, so I probably need to take a closer look.
