What are the best practices for setting up Apigee?

Our company is building a system integration mechanism using APIs and is considering setting up Apigee as an API Gateway. We have the following questions:

  • What are the best practices for setting up Apigee as an API Gateway in a large-scale system with over 10,000 employees and hundreds of applications? (Is it better to have one for the entire domain network, one per system domain, or one per application?)
  • How does Apigee function as an API Gateway? (What are the benefits?)
