User Pass Licenses consuming prototype users — how to manage this?

I recently completed my first project for a small local business. Because they didn’t have a Workspace account, I purchased a 20-pack of User Pass Licenses on my Enterprise Plus account to deploy the app for them.

While that project was a success, I’ve hit a major snag with my new leads. While prototyping another concept for a different client, I was notified that I had breached my user limit. I discovered that the test users on my prototypes were consuming my paid User Pass licenses.

AppSheet Support confirmed this is intended behavior: once you purchase User Pass licenses, you lose the ability to prototype with free users in that account.

I’m unsure of the best way to move forward. As I see it, my options are:

  1. Pay for leads: Purchase licenses for my potential clients to test apps (risky if the project doesn’t push through).
  2. Segregate accounts: Buy a new domain/Workspace account to create prototypes, then copy the app and data to my main account only once the deal is closed.

Has anyone else dealt with this? I am open to any suggestions on how to structure my account to avoid this.

Separate accounts.

I would report this issue to AppSheet Support. It doesn’t make sense that a license should be consumed if a user accesses ONLY non-deployed apps.

Until that is sorted, I agree with @Steve , use a separate Free account for prototyping. NOTE: You will not have AppSheet support on that Free account.

Yes, I know that. It is completely non-sense, but Google decided to charge to the external usres for the Apps with prototype state. I argued with them before, but the persons with whom I spoke to them do not have any control over it, as it should have been their management decision.
