Transferring app ownership on a Core license

Hello! Any tips for transferring app ownership on a Core license from a departing employee? Apparently, even the Enterprise Admin license wasn’t able to transfer.

Please find below the steps to transfer the license:

AppSheet admin

  1. Sign in to the Google Admin console with an administrator account.

  2. Navigate to Apps > Google Workspace > AppSheet.

  3. Select the app you want to transfer, click More, and then select Transfer app.

  4. Enter or select the email address of the new owner and click Transfer.

Important Considerations:

  • Data Sources: Ensure the recipient account has access to the same data sources as the original owner.

  • App Ownership: The app ownership is transferred, but you also need to transfer ownership of the app’s underlying data sources.

  • AppSheet Licensing: You can assign AppSheet Core licenses in the Google Admin Console, and it may take up to 24 hours for the changes to reflect.

Other options:

For the New App Owner (Recipient):

  1. Open the App: Navigate to the shared app in the AppSheet editor.

  2. Request Transfer: Go to Manage > Collaborate & Publish.

  3. Initiate Request: Expand the Transfer section and click Request Transfer.

For the Original Owner (Sender):

  1. Approve Transfer: The original owner will receive a transfer request via email or in their AppSheet console.

  2. Confirm Transfer: Click the Transfer App or Transfer button to confirm the transfer of app ownership.

Hi @Fabio_VFRoseira

If there is a governance team for your domain, the root account or organization account is able to force the app transfering.

If not, this works if the departing employee (let’s name this employee John) is not left yet:

  1. Ask John to share the app with you with “Edit App” permission

2)On your session, open the app editor then go to Manage > Collaborate and Publish > Transfer and click on “Request transfer”

  1. Ask John to “Accept transfer” (same panel in the app editor)

Please note John must also share the default app folder of the app with you.

To make it way more simple:

  1. Ask John to share the app with you with “View/Copy” or “Edit App” permission

  2. Copy the app, and click on the options for copying data.
