I have several apps and numerous templates for emails from bots and all of them that have static images as part of the template (just an image pasted into the Google Doc) have stopped appearing recently in all emails. I have verified that the images still appear in the templates. It’s usually just our company logo, but in some cases they are QR codes and the functionality of the email is basically ruined. I have noticed that templates in our shared drive are unaffected, only ones in “normal” Google Drive have the problem, but that is quite a few of them.
There seems to have been a number of issues circling emails recently. I would recommend that you contact AppSheet Support.
Hey,
Hope you’re keeping well.
This is likely due to recent changes in how embedded images in Google Docs are served when accessed from AppSheet email templates. Images stored in a non-shared drive may be generating links that require viewer authentication, which email recipients can’t access, causing them to appear blank. To resolve this, store the template in a shared drive with appropriate link sharing set to “Anyone with the link” for the images, or host the images in a public Cloud Storage bucket and reference them via public URLs in the template. You can update the image link in the Google Doc by right-clicking the image, selecting “Replace image,” and inserting the hosted URL instead of a pasted inline image.
Thanks and regards,
Taz
