Suggestions in the app editor

I recently noticed that the suggestions in the app editing interface can be more of irritating than helpful:

It would seem that the “dictionary” used to make suggestions in the part of the interface that allows us to search or narrow the range of what is displayed is a generic one – not based what is actually in the app. This makes it more of an hindrance to the editing process than a help.

Questions: Is this under the control of AppSheet or is it a feature of my browser? Can I turn it off?

P.S. Since people from many countries are building apps in many languages generic suggestions, particularly ones based on English, are not likely to be helpful for many creators.

By the way, eiga means “movie” in Japanese; Riga is the capital of Latvia. I hope to visit Latvia someday but “Riga” doesn’t strike me as a reasonable suggestion for my app.

After posting this, I tested Chrome and found that the problem only occurs on Safari (I’m a Mac user). I can’t figure out how to turn it off, though. In my preferences, all of my “Autofill” boxes are unchecked and in “Search,” “Include Safari Suggestions” is also off:

I don’t have a Mac, so can’t speak from experience.

The behavior you’re seeing reminds me of the auto-correct feature in Android, on my phone. In Android, auto-correct and typing suggestions are functions of the keyboard, not the app or browser. Could there be something similar in MacOS? Some sort of keyboard or general input configuration?

This doesn’t seem like an App Editor problem, it’s related to the OS.
BTW, editor suggestions are irritation nonetheless
I found specially problematic the one that changes to hidden a certain column after we change the Show property. We know that the editor is changing it, but we don’t need to be spam all over the place with warnings

Try turning off “Check Spelling while Typing” under Edit > “Spelling and Grammar” in Safari?

Hope this fixes it!

Thanks @Shahaf !

You helped me find the solution. In my case, “Check Spelling while Typing” was already off but “Text Replacement” in “Substitutions” was on for some reason. I turned it off and that fixed the problem.

Sorry to bother you with this problem that AppSheet isn’t responsible for. The location of various options in the Edit menu confused me. Now more than even I’m think about making a complete brake with Safari and moving to Chrome.
