I’m hoping to get some advice or assistance with a persistent issue I’m facing trying to get a quota increase for a single GPU on my personal account.
Goal: I need a quota increase from 0 to 1 for NVIDIA L4 GPUs in the asia-south1 region for a specific project I am working on. This is for a personal AI project (developing a YouTube video summarizer and chatbot) that requires GPU acceleration for inference.
Account Status & Steps Taken:
- This is a personal account, not associated with a company.
- I upgraded the account from the Free Trial to a paid billing account on April 16th, 2025.
- I submitted requested documents for identity/account verification on April 16th.
- As of today (April 17th), the account verification seems complete - the “Account verification under review” banner on the Billing > Account Management page has disappeared.
- The main Billing > Overview page shows no warnings or issues.
The Problem: When I go to the Quota page (IAM & Admin > Quotas) to request the L4 GPU quota increase for asia-south1(or any other region around the globe), the console interface prevents me from submitting a request for a value greater than 0. It displays the specific message: “Contact our Sales Team to request a value above 0.” (This has been the message since yesterday).
Sales Interaction: Following the console’s explicit instructions, I have contacted the Google Cloud Sales team twice now:
- Yesterday (when verification was still processing), they suggested opening a support ticket, which isn’t possible with Basic support.
- Today (after verification seems complete), they stated they cannot assist with quota requests for personal accounts and require a company domain/name. They again suggested purchasing paid support or contacting GCP Partners (which seems inappropriate for this simple request on a personal project).
Current Situation: I seem to be stuck in a loop. The console directs me to Sales for this specific quota request, but Sales says they cannot help personal accounts. My account is upgraded to paid status and appears to be verified, yet I cannot proceed through the documented channel. I do not wish to pay for a support plan just to resolve this quota request roadblock.
Request for Help: Has anyone else encountered this specific issue with L4 (or other GPU) quotas on verified personal accounts where the console directs you to Sales, but Sales refuses assistance? Is there a known workaround, an alternative contact path, or could a Community Manager perhaps offer insight or help escalate this apparent process gap?
