Scorecard returning incorrect calculations

When looking at a month to month comparison of May vs April, the Comparison calculation shows a negative when in GA4 it shows a positive. When I manually go back to the June vs May comparison, the Comparison calculation is different from what it originally was. When I refresh my browser, the Comparison calculation for June vs May goes back to the correct calculation.

I connected to the GA4 account. I’ve verified the Primary field Metric is correct. There are no filters.

This is not happening to any of our other client’s reports, that I’m aware of. I’ve only viewed a handful so far.

When I first open the report.

When I change it to compare May vs. April

The numbers and calculations for May vs April in the GA4 account

When I manually go back to view the June vs May in Looker. The calculation is different from when I first view the report.

I’m encountering similar issue on Looker Studio, the comparison percentage is different between:

  1. select Start Date and End Date in the Date Range
  2. select Last Month, Last Year

wondering if other people are seeing it as well.

So, known issue:

  • If you select a pre-build selection (like last month, last year) and compare Period over Period, Looker Studio is “smart enough” to compare last month Vs previous, last year Vs previous, which don’t have necessarily the same number of days

  • If you make a manual selection like june 1st till june 30th, it will compare against the previous 30 day

If you make a manual selection like may 1st till may 31st, it will compare against the preivous 31 days

So, in GA4, May Vs April is May 1st May 31st Vs April 1st April 30th = +55.79% in sessions

In Looker Studio, May Vs April is May 1st May 31st Vs March 31st April 30th = +50.0% in sessions

Not ideal, but this is what happens
