This one is a weird one and I’ll say from the outset its probably a phone issue. I have an app where the user says:
They go into a view. One is a table view off a slice. The other is calendar view with no slice.
They click into a Job record.
They add a daughter record into a sub table.
They click save
The app doesn’t take them back to the job record but instead to a blank screen. Not even really a view as such.
This happens mostly but not every time. Sometimes it will work fine for 20mins. Then it will fail on every save.
The app doesn’t use Event Actions: Form Saved rules in this section. I’ve not created any form views, its just the default app generated ones.
Another scenario is that when he adds a photo to the daughter record and clicks the tick, it also sends him to the blank screen.
He also reported seeing that a record appeared that another user had saved, presumably via Quick Sync. But this then disappeared after a few seconds.
My hunch is its a odd phone or connection issue. As other people using the app on the same site are not having issues. This app has been working fine for about 12 months. Told him to try turning off Wifi and trying it on 4G rather than 5G. But he says neither helped. Also suggested trying on a known good wifi connection or even airplane more. Though he says he’s not done that yet. Noting is showing up in the log files.
Phone is a fairly new Samsung with about 25% free space remaining. Anyone have any ideas?
Did you rename any of the views? Blank screens usually indicate that a view name was not found. It could be that the mobile device has cached view names that used to exist.
I would uninstall the mobile app from that device. Then reinstall it and connect to your app again…
Another update. User has sent a screen shot of the table and all but one photo is showing as the triangle-exclamation mark. Yet they all show fine at my end. Presumably this indicates a networks connection issue?
Native. Understood, but I’m fairly sure he’s not using it as a web app. Does a web app allow you to attached photos?
White labelled = no.
VPN, adblocker = AFAIK no. Though could be some Samsung bloatware that might do thi somewhere. There are some reports of the phone having buffer issues on the wifi and 4G/5G connection. I suggested to turn to airplane mode then back to force network data to reconnect.
I’ve just sent him on an errand to purchase a cheap smartphone so we can test that with his SIM card. Will report back unless anyone has any other suggestions.
