Rename blank row when grouping

Hi everyone!
In my app, the data is grouped by year, quarter and date scheduled.
When adding a new entry, I want my blank data (that gets grouped with no label) to have a label of sort as “new task submissions”.

Is there a way to do that? Does it have to do with a virtual column and an if formula? am I on the right track?

That definitely should be a track you could take and probably pretty easy.
