Removing Scandit Option Icons

Hello Cloud Community,

I’m not sure what to call them. When the camera is open on a mobile device for barcode scanning, I would like to remove the tappable icons (switch camera, focus area size). Is there a way to do this? I couldn’t find any options for it within AppSheet, so I’m thinking there might be something in the Scandit SDK that can help me? Other posts indicated @Gil might be able to help answer this.

Thank you for your time

Hi @MCC_Travis ,

Currently there is no way for app creators/users to remove these buttons.

Would you mind sharing why do you want to remove them?

Hey Gil,

Thanks for getting back to me. I’m using a bluetooth device connected to a scale that is sending continuous weight data as keystrokes with the return key appended at the end of each data packet. The goal is to set an item on the scale, scan the barcode of the item, ‘automatically advance’ the form to the weight field, receive the input from the bluetooth device and ‘auto save’. The problem is that the continuous keystrokes make the scanner go crazy, pushing those buttons. The continuous data being sent looks something like this “1000 g [return key]”. I was looking around on the Scandit website and I saw a simple version of the scanner that seems like it would be perfect for this application, but I couldn’t figure out how to set it up using a trial account.

Thanks for explaining the context.

You can chose to either use the Scandit scanner or the system default scanner, but both have buttons overlayed so I don’t know if that would solve your problem.

It might be worth checking the scale’s settings if it’s possible to reduce the frequency of the keystrokes transmission. Continuously sending these keystrokes might trigger other issues, not just the scanner’s buttons.
