Regional Lock for University of Arizona International Program Students (Kazakhstan)

Hello Google Cloud Community,

I am a 3rd-year Information Systems student at M. Kozybayev NKU (Kazakhstan), currently enrolled in an official international academic program affiliated with the University of Arizona.

Despite our program being verified by a major US institution (Arizona), I am unable to access the Gemini Pro student offer due to regional IP restrictions in Kazakhstan.

It is worth noting that GitHub and JetBrains have already verified my academic status and provided full access to their developer tools (including GitHub Copilot) globally. They recognize the validity of international partnership programs regardless of the student’s physical location.

I request the Google Education team to review the verification logic for international partner programs in Central Asia. We are training to be global IT professionals using US-standard curricula, and we should have equal access to Google’s academic AI ecosystem.

Best regards, Ariscion

Since you are part of an official program affiliated with the University of Arizona, your institution might have access to Gemini for Education (the Workspace version).

  • Ask your IT department to enable the “Gemini Education” add-on for your student account.

  • Often, institutional access bypasses individual regional IP blocks if the organisation itself is verified.
