Recover ownership of 3 orphaned Looker Studio reports after owner's Workspace account was deleted then restored

We have three Looker Studio reports (no-cost version, managed Google Workspace domain) that became orphaned after the owner’s account was deleted and later restored. We need ownership recovered or reassigned to an active user, and we are close to the 20-day permanent-purge window, so this is time-sensitive.

What happened:

  • The owner’s managed Workspace account was deleted. During deletion, Drive data was transferred to another user, but Looker Studio assets were NOT selected in the “Data in other apps” transfer step.
  • 8 days later we performed a genuine restore of the original account from the Admin console (Users > Recently deleted), not a re-created account.
  • Gmail and Drive content returned. The Looker Studio assets did not, even after 28+ hours.
  • Signed in as the restored owner account, the reports do not appear under “Owned by me”, are not in Trash, and opening the report URLs returns an access error.
  • Other users in our domain who open the report links see a “Request access” prompt, which indicates the assets still exist but have no recognized owner.

Affected report IDs (verified from the live URLs):

  • 664070ae-1e00-43b1-bf8e-438a4a3033f6
  • 82aa5b63-7dfc-4d97-9eae-a6ec41a47de9
  • 57c5d225-e7c8-423e-bb88-f47cfde2e42c

Request: Could a Looker Studio team member help reattach ownership of these assets to the original owner, or reassign them to an active user in our organization? We are within the recovery window but approaching the 20-day purge cutoff and would appreciate urgent guidance.

We have already contacted Google Workspace admin support, who advised this is outside their scope as an additional service. We can provide the owner email, the new owner email, and our domain privately to any staff member who can assist.

If the reports still return a Request access page instead of Not found, the assets likely still exist. At this point, I would open a Google Cloud Support case, provide the report IDs, the restored user, and the timeline.
