QR Scanner Sizing Toggle

I’ve just found that iPhones doesn’t have the sizing-toggle for QR scanner. This’s the must-have feature when there’re many QR-codes staying next to each other. Any setting suggested?

It’s there on all Android phones I’ve seen so far (as shown in this picture).

Yes this is known difference between iOS and Android services as indicated in this Feature Idea:

I think an issue here is that AppSheet is dependent on device software for the scanner and are subject to the features that service makes available. It may be that you can purchase an upgraded version of the service that provide additional features.

You can find out more about Barcode scanning here:

Thanks for the info.

Clearly see that Android phones are superior in this aspect (at least) since it’s available right in the box.

My work-around is to NOT recommend AppSheet’s users buying new iPhones !

Just to make sure I was clear, when I mentioned upgrade I am speaking about upgrading the scanning software on the device - not the device itself. The default scanning software on an iPhone is produced by Scandit (not by Apple). It’s free to use! but there is a paid version of Scandit that will give a user many more scanning features. I am sure the same is true on Android.

That’s okay for those who need to buy them. I’m just sick of telling user to upgrade things which are ready-to-use on other alternatives.

You shouldn’t be…sick that is. There are a number of software things given away for “free” or very cheap as a sales tactic to hopefully sway a potential customer to purchase better products later. It should be expected and accepted by both your users and yourself.

If you can navigate through the floods of software and find a path that gives a user everything they want for free AND you are fairly compensated, then kudos to you. But know that won’t last long.

Look at it this way…if companies always just gave away their products and services for free there would come a day when none are…because they would all go out of business!

To be clear I am talking about scanner feature. It’s just a very basic feature which is why it’s available on android. I would say Apple as a big company could do more on this little thing very easily unless they didn’t realized that it’s always there on android devices. It’d be very cheap feature compared to an iPhone price not to mention about much cheaper android phones.

Beside not every user knows very well how to deal with App Store, settings, etc. Things look very easy for you doesn’t always mean for others. It’s not that they don’t have money to pay or only crave for free stuffs.
