Please remove substantial restrictions that exist as a coauthor of the app

Hello @Suvrutt_Gurjar and all,

Just to let you know I have formally raised a request to the development team. I will be following up on it.

Thank you very much @Jose_Arteaga . Appreciate it.

We’re facing the same coauthor limitations (adding reports, data sources, logos, etc.), and it has a real impact on collaborative development. In team environments, these restrictions slow down progress and create unnecessary dependency on the app owner.

Completely agree that if someone is made a coauthor, they should be trusted to manage app resources, with the only hard restriction being the ability to delete the app itself.

That is great to hear! This update would be a game changer for collabrative development and would be huge for businesses who build AppSheet apps for other businesses!

I came across the setting in the image below a couple of days ago. This seems to be an attempt to restrict access to certain AppSheet areas by accounts that are “external” to the company domain.

At first, I thought this might give co-authors the ability to add datasources and such by turning off the restriction or adding the account as an exception. We tried making changes to this setting in three different ways and seems to not make any difference to how I am able to access the apps with my external account. So I am not totally certain what this setting actually does. Maybe we didn’t wait long enough or didn’t refresh things as expected???

What we need, is a setting similar to this (if this isn’t supposed to be it) that allows the App Owner to give permissions to certain co-authors (internal or external) to allow them FULL access to make app changes.

Not only have they completely ignored this post, as well as other similar requests, they are actively adding in new coauthor restrictions. On many accounts I can now no longer change a bot-tasks’s template by manually editing the DocId. It’s absurd.

Thank you Marc for chiming in.

Hi @Jose_Arteaga : please note. Many AppSheet app creators who have been contributing in this community for at least 5 + years have upvoted this request ( through likes) or shared their supporting views.

We really appreciate that you have raised an internal request. We are very thankful for that. A sincere request to consider this request on topmost priority. The restrictions really cause major bottlenecks in app development as a co-author.

I fully agree with this request. It would make it so much easier to develop apps as a co-author. Often the owner of the app is the one who purchases the licenses, but the developer is a 3rd party.
