Personal User - How does it actually work?

I’m producing a video for my YouTube channel teaching about the “Personal Use” feature of AppSheet and other alternatives for sending emails. While researching this “Personal Use” functionality, I came across documentation that doesn’t explicitly explain what actually works or doesn’t work when using this feature.

The documentation pages only state that there’s a limit of 3 users for Personal Use access, but this leaves many questions unanswered:

  • Do scheduled bots work?

  • Can I send emails to people other than the app owner?

  • Can I use other ‘paid’ features? If so, which ones?

My questions arise because, since the limit is 3 users, what would actually change if the app were deployed to make this Personal Use functionality truly useful? Because if nothing changes, except the app’s “status” to deployed, wouldn’t it be better to continue using the app as a prototype and have a limit of up to 10 users?

It would be great if this documentation page were updated.

Taking this opportunity, here’s the link to my channel (in Brazilian Portuguese) where I teach about AppSheet: https://www.youtube.com/@manualappsheet :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Yep.

I’ve not found a good use case for Personal Use. My sense is this option was added in AppSheet’s very early day and forgotten or abandoned and never removed.

Thanks @mattlops and @Steve,

I might not understand everything you say but I subscribed anyway to your channel.

I will share your comments so that we add answers to your queries to the pages you have listed.

I will keep you posted!

@Steve and @Jose_Arteaga
