I noticed that the new mobile UI design removes the action button names? I love the ui design for the mobile app, but this part is very crucial especially for the users that doesn’t have an idea what the action button is for. Hope you can bring back the action button display name.
We have the same problem. We had to turn off the preview feature.
Having the same issue as well. Across all our apps with the Early release framework.
Any news on that?
I’ve sent a message to @amyplin
I just want to chime in and say that I’m also experiencing this issue. The action button names used to be visible, but now they’ve disappeared from all of our previously designed apps. This change is especially noticeable (and problematic) when using the apps on a desktop — the buttons are there, but without the names, it’s confusing for our users.
This unexpected UI change is really disruptive, and I strongly feel that button names should not be removed without any warning or option to revert. Please consider restoring the action button labels, or at least giving developers the choice to show or hide them.
I discovered that the issue with the missing label under the Action button occurs only when using Safari on macOS. When I open the same AppSheet app using Google Chrome on the same Mac, the label displays correctly.
It seems this might be a Safari-specific rendering issue. I hope the AppSheet team can look into improving compatibility with Safari. Thank you!
I am experiencing this issue and can’t seem to find a solution and it is happening in Chrome for me. I have two actions set to “Primary” and one is showing the display name and the other is not, and I don’t know why.
The actions are “Apply” and “New Opportunity”. In the desktop view, only “New Opportunity” has the label:
I don’t see in the setup why they would be behaving differently:
Both have their behavior condition set to “true” and don’t need confirmation. Any ideas?
I have not done extensive testing, so following may not be conclusive. However it sounds that at a time , only one action with name gets displayed in the top menu bar.
Please see action with “Edit” name getting displayed in the screenshot below with display name but Apply action is showing up with just icon and hover name.
If we change the order of actions in the editor, now ‘Apply” shows but not Edit.
Finally with one more action order change, ‘New Opportunity” shows up with the display name but “Apply” and ‘Edit” actions show up only with the icons.
So the current design seems to allow only one action with display name at a time. I believe this is in a way sensible because if there are multiple actions, the action bar can get cluttered.
Hi!
I’m also having the same problem.
It seems primary button(s) doesn’t show button label any more in Smartphone mode, and in PC mode, only 1 of your all primary buttons will be displayed with label.
- Smartphone mode
- PC mode
I tried to change all the settings that I can to solve the problem but it’s useless as this seems a default UX template.
It’s really confusing/annoying to end-users who use the app when multi-button is necessary, especially the one who use it for the first time.
Hope these has a solution…
Thank you! That is helpful in that it kind of explains what’s going on, but, unfortunately, isn’t great since I either want all of the labels on or none. Having just one showing isn’t helpful.
That being said - how do you reorder actions? I can’t seem to figure out how to do it since my actions are not all tied to the same table.
I believe there is no good way to do this currently.
In the action names section in the actions settings pane, please click on the highlighted icon.
I have tried to do that multiple times and it has absolutely no effect on the order of my actions.
Okay. That is a bit surprising. You may want to contact Support team in that case.
