I have a Google Cloud project (PII Removed by Staff) that I previously used and still holds an active, approved Google Business Profile API grant (confirmed directly by Google’s Business Profile team). I can no longer open this project in Cloud Console from either of my two Google accounts.
What I’ve confirmed:
- Both accounts get a permissions error (missing resourcemanager.projects.get and serviceusage.services.list).
- Two service account keys previously minted from this exact project still work fine for API calls, so the project itself is healthy. This is an access problem, not a deleted or suspended project.
- Neither service account has Owner or Editor rights either (tested directly, both get PERMISSION_DENIED).
- The IAM Policy Troubleshooter also requires existing access to run, so I can’t use it to diagnose this either.
- Filing a Cloud Support case seems to require either Console access to the project or a paid support plan.
What I’m hoping to find out:
- Is there any self-service way to recover Owner access to a project like this, without a paid support plan?
- If not, is a paid Standard Support case actually the right channel for this kind of request, or is there a more specific account/project recovery process I’m missing?
Happy to provide project number, prior service account emails, or anything else that helps verify this is legitimately mine.
