Hi all,
I’m hoping someone here has dealt with this specific situation, because I’ve hit a dead end through every official channel.
Background
I registered a domain through Cloud Domains (GCP) in July 2025. Some time later, I accidentally deleted the GCP project that contained the Registration resource for that domain. The project no longer shows up as restorable in Resource Manager, so I assume the ~30-day undelete window has passed.
What I’ve tried
- Cloud Console → Support → Cases: blocked with “You don’t have permission to file support cases for technologies for projects/[my-other-project].” My only remaining project has no support-eligible billing account attached.
- Cloud Console → Billing Support: same dead end — no active eligible billing account to attach the case to.
- The official Cloud Domains troubleshooting doc says: “If you cannot restore your project, the registrant contact can reach out to Google Cloud support to gain access to the domain.” But in practice there’s no support entry point that accepts a case from someone without an eligible billing account, even for a pure account-recovery / access request like this.
Domain status (public RDAP)
- Registrar of record: Squarespace Domains II LLC (per the Cloud Domains ↔ Squarespace registrar arrangement)
- Status: clientHold
- Registry expiration: 2026-07-20 (i.e. not expired, still active)
- Nameservers: still pointing at Google Cloud DNS (ns-cloud-b1-4.googledomains.com)
I’ve also opened a request with Squarespace directly, citing ICANN’s Transfer Policy (registrar of record must provide the registrant with an AuthInfo/EPP code within 5 calendar days of request), in case that path resolves it independently of Google Cloud. But I’d still like to recover proper access on the Google Cloud side if possible.
Question
Has anyone successfully recovered a Cloud Domains registration after the owning project was permanently deleted, without an active paid support plan? Is there any support intake specifically for Cloud Domains / registrant access-recovery cases that doesn’t require project billing eligibility? Any pointer (even “email X team directly”) would help a lot at this point.
Thanks in advance.
