Looker Studio - in pivot table members are sometimes shown text wrapped

Hi,

New here, but I have been working with Looker Studio (free edition!) for a while.

I made a report which has a field with names in column A. Next to this there are 9 more columns. Column A is wide enough to fit the contents of all of the members. However, when I am scrolling through the pivot table suddenly some members are text wrapped. Then a max of 10 characters is shown on the first line, the next 10 shown on the second line and so on.

In the properties I have checked the ‘text wrap’ option but that was needed. Because if not checked the items are not shown at all from character 11 and on. Only the first 10 characters are shown then…

I have no idea what causes this, at this moment it feels like a bug… Curious whether or not anyone recognizes this.

Same, effectively makes Looker Studio unusable for a large amount of reports (anything where you need rows with a “name” column with more than 10 or so characters).

Hey,

Hope you’re keeping well.

This behavior in Looker Studio’s pivot table is usually tied to how the table dynamically adjusts cell rendering based on available viewport space rather than the set column width. Even if the column appears wide enough, scrolling can trigger a reflow that changes text wrapping. Try explicitly setting Column Width in the pivot table’s style panel instead of relying on auto-width, and ensure “Wrap text” is enabled only if you want multi-line display. If the issue persists, it’s worth duplicating the chart and testing in a fresh report to rule out layout corruption, and then reporting it via Help > Report a problem so the Looker Studio team can investigate.

Thanks and regards,
Taz
