Issue with Dimension Containing Hyphen in Looker

Hi everyone,

I’m encountering an issue in Looker when using a dimension that contains a hyphen. Specifically, I’m getting a system error with ID: acd8452d when trying to include the dimension “PDF-report” in a table.

I’ve tried the following workarounds without success:

  • Removing the hyphen in Looker Studio: This doesn’t resolve the underlying issue.
  • Modifying the field name in BigQuery: Unfortunately, this isn’t feasible due to multiple parties using the table.
  • Using backticks or brackets: to encapsulate the dimension name, but his doesn’t resolve the underlying issue.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I don’t think the issue you are encountering is caused by hypen in label of your table.
What makes you think its caused by this? Maybe it’s more about the content of the field rather its label?

I removed the hyphen in a copy of the table, and the problem was solbed in Looker studio.
