InvalidMismatch sign-in + 401 UNAUTHENTICATED + My Account page blank

I am building a prototype AppSheet app using Google Sheets as the data source. I am the only user, and the same Google account owns the AppSheet app and the underlying Google Sheet.

Original Android issue

When signing into the native Android AppSheet app with the owner Google account, I receive:

“Validation failed (InvalidMismatch). Please try signing in again.”

If I attempt sign-in again, it proceeds further but the native AppSheet app remains on a spinning/loading screen.

The app does load in a mobile browser while online.

Troubleshooting already completed

  • Verified the correct Google account is installed on Android.
  • Verified that same account owns the AppSheet application.
  • Force stopped and restarted AppSheet.
  • Cleared AppSheet cache.
  • Uninstalled/reinstalled the Android AppSheet application.
  • Verified AppSheet deployment checks pass for app definition, data structure, mobile content caching, server caching, and launching offline.
  • Require user sign-in is configured with Google authentication.
  • The owner account appears correctly in Manage Users.

As an authentication troubleshooting step, I revoked the Google AppSheet authorization and then signed back into AppSheet with Google to establish fresh authorization.

After doing that, a second problem appeared.

Both Google Sheets-backed tables (Jobs and Interior Areas) now report:

401 — Request had invalid authentication credentials. Expected OAuth 2 access token, login cookie or other valid authentication credential. Status: UNAUTHENTICATED.

The existing Google Sheets source, spreadsheet, worksheet names, and Source IDs are still present in AppSheet.

In addition, Admin → My Account now displays a blank page. I have signed out of AppSheet and signed back in with Google, but My Account remains blank and the 401 errors remain.

I would appreciate help with the following:

  1. How can I restore/reauthorize the existing Google data-source OAuth credentials without recreating the application or tables?
  2. Could the original Android InvalidMismatch error be related to this account/OAuth issue?
  3. Why would the AppSheet My Account page render completely blank for this account?
  4. Is there an account-side authorization reset or repair that AppSheet/Google needs to perform?

I would strongly prefer not to recreate the application because substantial form logic and conditional field configuration have already been built.

I can provide screenshots of the InvalidMismatch error, the 401 UNAUTHENTICATED errors, and the blank My Account page.

There appears to be an ongoing server-side problem. Please contact Support to make them aware that you are affected.

Thanks for the response Steve.

AppSheet says direct Support requires a paid subscription, I’d reply explaining that you’re currently evaluating AppSheet on the free prototype plan and therefore don’t appear to have Support access. Is there another way for a free/prototype user to report that they’re affected by this server-side issue?

Thanks for reporting this.

As stated in this post, the engineering team is aware of this issue and they are working on a solution. I’ll keep you posted with any information I receive.
