I’m experiencing intermittent connectivity issues to a Google Cloud-hosted service https://kommodo.ai for the past several days. The site becomes completely inaccessible with ERR_CONNECTION_RESET errors, with no apparent pattern - it can be down for several minutes, then suddenly work again, then down for hours, then back again.
Symptoms:
-
Error: “This site can’t be reached” - ERR_CONNECTION_RESET
-
Intermittent accessibility (no consistent time pattern)
-
Issue is ISP-specific (see troubleshooting below)
Troubleshooting completed:
- Changed DNS servers (1.1.1.1, 8.8.8.8) - No effect
- Tested with different ISP (mobile hotspot) - Works perfectly
- Contacted kommodo.ai support - They confirmed they use Google Cloud and suggested “the issue is on Google’s network side”
- ISP changed my public IP address, temporary because the IP is in the Agreement and can be changed only if a new one is available and for additional fee - Issue Fixed
My Analysis: This appears to be a routing/peering issue between my ISP’s network and Google Cloud infrastructure, likely affecting specific IP ranges or BGP routes.
Questions:
-
Are there any known routing issues between certain ISPs and Google Cloud regions currently?
-
What diagnostic information should I provide to kommodo.ai to help them escalate properly with Google Cloud support?
-
Should I run traceroute/MTR during outages and provide those results somewhere?
-
Is this something Google Cloud can investigate if provided with my ISP’s ASN and affected IP ranges?
Additional Information:
-
Location: Chisinau, Moldova
-
ISP: Starnet
-
Issue duration: Several days (started around 6th of October)
-
Workaround: VPN or mobile data
Any guidance on how to proceed or what additional diagnostics to collect would be greatly appreciated.
