Increase CPUS_ALL_REGIONS quota

Running into an issue where I’d like to spin up a pretty beefy VM - above the CPUS_ALL_REGIONS limit which is set on my project to 12.

Looking around for information on how to increase this - I must have found the wrong form because my response from Trust and Safety pointed me to: https://cloud.google.com/docs/quota/view-manage#requesting_higher_quota

This page says "Some quotas cannot be updated using the

Google Cloud console. If you find that you cannot change a quota from the console, request the increase from Cloud Customer Care. The Billing team does not handle quota limit increases."

This is frustrating for two reasons:

  1. It doesn’t seem there is any way to request a limit increase without signing up for a Support Package. I don’t want a support package - I just want to pay for more VM usage.
  2. It conflicts with the notice on the Quota Increase modal which says to contact the sales team - which I seem to be able to get a hold of but the reps do agree that this is not their space.

Can I really not use more resources without paying for a support package and an additional 3% surcharge?

Hi @kjbecker ,

I assume you have now upgraded from a free tier to a paid billing account. Unfortunately, purchasing a Google Cloud Support plan is the sole option available to you for requesting additional quotas. However, even with a support plan, there is no guarantee that your request will be approved.

From this Stack Overflow thread:

You are dealing with a credit situation. Is your credit good enough to justify a cloud vendor allowing access to resources that you pay for later? In my experience with AWS, Azure, and GCP, Google has tended to be easier/more relaxed. Review the credit card that you posted to your billing account. Does it only have $12.00 in credit available or are you using a corporate debit card? Are you a hobbyist or a business? How long has your account been open? These are factors that companies might consider in granting a credit line increase. Only the vendor can increase your credit line.

If you don’t want to pay for a support plan, the alternative is to work within your current quota. After multiple billing cycles, you may be eligible for a quota increase, but there is no definitive timeframe for such a consideration.

I hope this helps. Thanks.
