Help needed: Your homepage does not explain the purpose of your app

Getting this error despite my landing page explaining it quite in depth.

”Your homepage does not explain the purpose of your app.”

I also am getting an error:

“Your homepage URL ‘https://invoicing.com.au/’ does not include a link to your privacy policy.”

despite it having a link to the privacy policy in the footer.

How do I fix this?

Hey Mate, were you able to fix this?
I just got myself into the same situation.
I have submitted manual review for my test instance. let me know how it goes!

G’day!

It usually means the reviewer could not verify it quickly and unambiguously, even if the information is technically there. Google’s requirements say the homepage must clearly identify the app/brand, explain what the app does for users, and include a privacy policy link on the homepage itself. It also says the privacy policy URL on the site should match the one configured in the OAuth consent screen.

In practice, the fix is often to make the homepage more explicit and more visible to the reviewer. Add a short section near the top such as: “Invoicing.com.au lets users connect their Google account to import/export invoice data, manage billing workflows, and sync business documents.” Reviewers may reject pages that feel too generic, marketing-only, or login-only, even if the details exist deeper in the page.

For the privacy policy issue, a footer link is sometimes not enough if it is not easy to spot or if the URL does not exactly match the privacy policy URL entered in the OAuth consent screen. Google specifically says the homepage must include an easily accessible privacy policy link, and the configured privacy policy URL should match what is linked on the homepage.

I’d suggest:

  1. Put a clear “What this app does” section above the fold.

  2. Add a visible “Privacy Policy” link in the header or main body, not only the footer.

  3. Make sure the privacy policy URL in Google Cloud is the exact same URL linked from the homepage.

  4. Confirm both the homepage domain and privacy policy domain are authorized/verified in OAuth branding/Search Console.
